Stronger Together

The PFCC Safer Streets funding from the Home Office supports the Stronger Together initiative, which is tackling one of the most pressing issues in modern society: violence against women and girls (VAWG). This vital program addresses the deeply ingrained cultural and societal attitudes that perpetuate this violence, with a focus on prevention through education, awareness, community empowerment, and challenging toxic mindsets.

Violence against women and girls is a pervasive problem in the UK, with thousands of women experiencing harassment, abuse, or worse every year. The issue is not just about isolated incidents but stems from systemic issues like misogyny, sexism, and harmful societal norms that create environments where such violence is normalized or overlooked.

One of the most alarming trends in recent years has been the rise of toxic narratives, amplified by figures like Andrew Tate, who promote misogyny and harmful stereotypes about women. These narratives gain traction, especially among young men, through social media and other digital platforms, influencing behaviors and attitudes in damaging ways. The Stronger Together initiative recognizes the need to combat these messages by fostering critical thinking, encouraging respectful relationships, and dismantling harmful ideologies at their roots.

At the heart of the program is a focus on education and awareness-raising. By engaging with schools, youth groups, and community organisations, Stronger Together aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to challenge sexist and misogynistic behaviors. This includes exploring the ways in which everyday sexism escalates into more serious forms of abuse and violence, and empowering people to take a stand against harmful attitudes in their communities.

Aiming for safer communities for everyone by encouraging open dialogue and fostering a culture of respect and equality. By involving local residents in the conversation and empowering them to be active participants in creating change, Stronger Together seeks to break the cycle of violence and create a ripple effect of positivity and accountability.

The ultimate goal is not just to make women and girls feel safer, but to create a community where everyone—regardless of gender—can thrive free from fear, discrimination, or violence. By tackling the root causes of violence against women and girls, including the rise of toxic narratives, the Stronger

Together initiative strives to make streets, workplaces, schools, and homes safer for everyone.

This initiative is a crucial step toward addressing a national issue that affects countless lives. With the support of PFCC Safer Streets funding, it provides a beacon of hope, demonstrating that through education, awareness, and collective action, we can begin to change the mindset and culture that allow violence against women and girls to persist.
